Our Story: Victory Farms

During an Our Story event, we connect our guests with their food source. We feature many local products on our menu, and this month we have Victory Farms visiting every Thursday.

A Little Background

At The Boathouse, we have worked with Victory Farms for several years, and they are the original hosts for the Dinner in the Field events. They are located less than 5 miles from our Rocketts Landing location, and we have partnered with them to aid in the donation of products to local charities, such as FeedMore. Victory Farms has a large CSA  following, and they are one of the founding members of the South of the James farmers' market in the Forest Hill area.

Their Journey

Owners Charlie and Gina Collins started out in Arizona, where Charlie began his story growing up in a family of organic gardeners. He then pursued a degree in botany and eventually became a very well-known farmer in the Phoenix restaurant community. Charlie and Gina relocated to Virginia in 2006 and have been constantly growing their farm business as well as contributing to several area community improvement projects.

Why VA?

They are based in Virginia because of the move from Arizona to VA in 2006. Charlie has learned and developed new techniques in the temperate Virginia climate, which differs from the Phoenix one, where high season for growing is in Winter. Their product is unique because it is “Certified Naturally Grown” high quality products that are compost grown right here in the Richmond area. With 25 years farming experience and a farm-to-table commute of just minutes, Victory Farms produce is undoubtedly some of the best around.

Come Join us!

Our friends from Victory Farms will be joining us from 5-7:30pm every Thursday in June. Don’t miss your chance to sample some of their amazing produce, enhance the flavors with an amuse bouche, and try a dinner special that perfectly complements their locally grown veggies. Upcoming events:
