To connect our guests to the local artisans who provide the ingredients we use at our restaurants, we created Our Story. During Our Story events our local vendors make their rounds to each Boathouse location and Casa del Barco to share their mission and provide you with a taste of their product. This month we have linked up with the masters of craft beer, Stone Brewing!
I’m a little sad to see this blog series come to an end. It’s been so much fun sharing my wedding journey with you from start to finish. I’m really grateful to have the opportunity to document these moments. Hopefully my journey will be helpful for some of you current and future wedding planners!
This summer has definitely been one for the books! It even brought about the creation of our brand new partnership with celebrate! RVA! We enjoy reaching out and getting involved with our community because we know that without them we would not be able to do what we love.
My husband (at the time, future husband), and I decided to do a first look and also exchange gifts before the wedding. He was getting ready at our house so I had the photographer drive me over so we could get some photos of the gift exchange and also see each other before the ceremony. I know it breaks tradition but I am SO happy I did this. It just made me feel so safe and happy and just reassured me not to “get all crazy” and that I could handle this.
The Boathouse is committed to providing guests with locally sourced cuisine. We believe that it’s not just about the flavor of the food (although that’s pretty important too), but it’s also about the quality.
The big day has finally come to an end! After months of arrangements and countless hours meeting with vendors and planners, I have officially tied the knot! This experience has definitely been unlike any other and I have to admit I am a little sad to see it all come to an end.
The Boathouse and Casa del Barco feature a different local vendor every month as a way to connect our guests with the source of the local food that they receive at our restaurants. For the month of June we featured Chapel Creek Oyster Co. for Our Story.

Nobody ever said that wedding planning would be a breeze but I sure did underestimate the amount of work! It seems like I have been in the calm before the storm since I’ve sent out invitations but now that the big day is less than a month away it feels like I am in the eye of the tornado. There is so much to do and SO little time.
The Boathouse Beverage Director Michael Avery and the brewers of Trapezium have created a custom Boathouse Oyster Ale! To celebrate the new creation we hosted the first ever Pop-Up Beer Dinner at our Sunday Park Location on Friday, March 24th.The dinner consisted of a gourmet four course menu created by Cory Sheldon, the Corporate Chef for The Boathouse.
